Right now Protect California Ballots is involved in a recount of a small election in Burbank, CA.
It initially looked like a great trail run for implementing citizen oversight. But as soon as inquiries were made about doing a recount, political and bureaucratic resistance started to rise out of the swamp like a monster from a grade B horror movie.
Now we need your support to cover the costs of the audit. Although the California Code says the recount should be paid for by the city, since the winner only had a 1.07% edge, although the California Code says the recount should only cost $400 to $800, the City Clerk is currently asking for $8000. And that breaks our piggy bank.. |
