Sign-in at the entrance, get an observer badge; then wait for an escort to lead observers into the area where the canvas activities go on.You should be allowed into each room.

Follow guidelines: Do not bring in food or drink

††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† ††††††††††††††† †††† Do not take pictures

†††††††††††††††††† ††††††††† †† Do not touch any election materials

†††††††††††††††††† ††††††††† †† Only speak to the managers in each room, not the employees.

  1. watch the teams hand counting the 1% manual tally precincts for both election day and vote by mail ballots for those precincts.
  2. watch how the signatures in the poll books are recorded.
  3. watch how the provisional ballots are checked and processed
  4. watch how the handed-in and late mailed-in vote by mail ballots are processed
  5. watch the ballot counting updates on the county ballot counting and tabulating machines:ómaybe twice for two weeks and then 3 times the last week if the canvas goes on that long
  6. watch how ballot re-makes are done
  7. watch how the write-in votes are handled.

Lots to see and understand.  It is very important that people see all this and understand what the employees are doing.

Director Protect California Ballots
